A memorial car meet in memory of 19-year-old Michaela Logan, who was tragically killed in a road traffic collision near Arreton earlier this month, is to be held in Ryde.
The event, which is being supported by local Police, has been organised to take place at Tesco Extra Ryde after the store closes on Sunday 9th February.
Car enthusiasts from across the Island are expected to descend on Ryde as a unique way of saying goodbye to Michaela, who was known in the car community.
The gathering is being supported by landowners Tesco Stores Ltd thanks to efforts by Hampshire Constabulary – specifically the Joint Operation Unit’s PC Dom Green. Police will be attending the event due to the numbers expected and to ensure things remain civil.
A fireworks show, thanks to Hunts Fireworks in Rookley, will take place close to the Tesco site on the night. The meet is expected to last between 18:00-20:00.
Special car stickers depicting an ‘M’ with angel wings have been created and drivers are being encouraged to place them on their vehicles. The stickers are available prior to the meet from JW Autoshine in Rookley with donations going to The Wight Brainy Bunch.
Tom Logan, Michaela’s brother, has taken to the official Facebook event to say:
“Im hoping this will be a great way for the IOW Car Community to pull together and say goodbye in our own way”.

Wouldn’t this be the incorrect thing to do as is the reason what she does for in the first place and showing others that these kind of reckless fast sporting cars are the cause of why so many young die by speeding. I think to allow this as a parent is dam right irresponsible and goes to show today’s minds. My god.

All you are is a keyboard warrior who is too stuck up their own arse to realise the bigger picture and why over 200+ people are attending this meet, because this girl was not only loved by her family but by all of us within the community she was in and are so saddened and can’t come to terms with her tragically passing away that night. Get out your arse and off the keyboard and actually have some respect for people!
Its just not the time and place to make negative comments as a loving family have had their hearts ripped out by this sad loss of a young persons life.Friends and family are surely going to celebrate her life the way they feel is right for them and their daughters memory.Have some respect no what what your opinion is.
