Lord-Lieutenant of the Isle of Wight, Mrs Susie Sheldon JP, was given a tour of Sandown & Shanklin Independent Lifeboat on Sunday.
Mrs Sheldon, who is also Patron of the charity, was guided around by Operations Manager Mark Birch. He showed the Lord-Lieutenant the equipment used to save the lives of those in peril at sea, talked about plans for a new station and introduced the Queen’s representative to the shore and lifeboat crew.
Sandown Lifeboat’s Padre, Reverend James Izzard, was also in attendance.
Sandown & Shanklin Independent Lifeboat operate a 24/7 emergency service.
