Bob Seely MP is supporting a campaign which aims to increase flu vaccination rates across the Island.
The campaign – spearheaded by the Isle of Wight NHS Trust, Isle of Wight NHS Clinical Commissioning Group and the Isle of Wight Council – is called ‘Protect Together’ and the MP is keen to encourage residents to take up the flu vaccine to protect communities.
Bob, who had his flu vaccination earlier this month, said:
“There are a lot of myths out there about the flu vaccine, but I must stress the importance of the vaccine in protecting our communities and reducing the spread of the virus.
“This vaccine is vitally important for the over 65s, pregnant women, children, frontline health and social care workers and people with certain medical conditions.
“I’m told the best time to have a flu vaccine is in the autumn, so it’s a really good idea to get vaccinated now.”
More advice and information on the vaccine is available at https://www.iow.nhs.uk/getting-involved/flu-advice.htm.
The flu vaccine is available through GPs and also in some pharmacies and supermarkets.
