Police pursued a vehicle through the East Wight on Saturday after it failed to stop for officers.
At just after 23:00, Police attempted to pull over a Honda Civic near Tesco Extra on Beaper Shute, between Ryde and Brading.
The driver of the vehicle failed to stop as directed and led officers on a pursuit through the residential streets of Brading, Sandown and Shanklin.
The National Police Air Service helicopter from Bournemouth, which was on local area training, was drafted in but, despite the best efforts of the aerial asset and Police on the ground, the search went cold in the Shanklin area.
The decision was taken to stand the pursuit down as it headed towards a town centre, increasing the risks.
Hampshire Constabulary have confirmed that the car was located and seized the next day in an undisclosed location.
Scrap it if not stolen!

We are usually exceptionally quick with our reports, but on this occasion we had very little information to go on. There are procedures that need to be followed to obtain information – this was completed today and we have now published the story at an appropriate time.
