A date for a drop-in session for patients to ask questions about the future of Beech Grove Surgery has been announced by the Isle of Wight Clinical Commissioning Group.
The session will take place on Wednesday 9th October in St Mary’s Church Hall, Brading from 16:00-18:00.
It comes after the CCG received formal notification that Beech Grove Surgery, which has surgeries in Brading and in Lake, is to hand back its contract to provide primary care services, as first reported by Island Echo.
The process to find alternative provision for their 4,592 registered patients has already begun.
Alison Smith, the CCG’s Managing Director, said:
“We understand it has been worrying and disappointing news for you as a patient at Beech Grove Surgery. We want to continue to maintain the continuity of your care, I would also urge you to stay with your current surgery while this is sorted and we will keep you posted on updates as we have them.
“It’s important to us and the practice, to hear your views, questions and comments from registered patients at Beech Grove Surgery, as this will contribute towards how a service is shaped for the future.
“While we may not have the answers to all the questions, it is important for you to ask and for us to answer as much as we possibly can”.

The CCG is now planning an options appraisal to ensure that all patients registered at the practice get continued access to a full range of primary care services.
Questions and issues raised at the drop-in session will be used to inform the options appraisal.
After the CCG has made its decision on the way forward, it is planning to set up public meetings in Brading for patients to learn of the next steps.
The drop-in session, which is for registered patients of Beech Grove Surgery, has disabled access and parking.
Pointless, just TELL people what they need to know. Waste of time asking questions IF they don’t know the answer, and IF they do, tell us NOW.
Why is it being closed, why can’t other doctors take over, is it the NHS cutting funding or the two doctors leaving that is causing it to close.
Can’t imagine St Mary’s hospital ‘closing’ if a few doctors left, so WHY should a surgery. Surely there are doctors willing to come here.
Why are the council building MORE homes, thus encouraging in ever more from the mainland, when they KNOW we can’t even treat all the people ALREADY here.
If I were to ask any of this, one would expect, and GET some weak, wishy washy, dippy reply, so I won’t bother.
