The access steps to Compton Beach at Hanover Point are to be closed for over 5 weeks to allow for repair works to the damaged outfall pipe.
It has been confirmed that the closure of footpath F60 will commence on 6th June and last until 14th July, reopening just in time for the school Summer holidays.
In January 2016 the steps were damaged beyond repair resulting in temporary access being put in place in April of last year. However, in February the land moved once again and cut off access to the beach forcing another set of temporary steps to be installed last month.
Planning permission has been granted to create an access ramp down onto the beach for machinery to remove and replace the damage outfall pipe and reinstate the stepped access.
Members of the public can still access Compton Beach via Compton Farm Cottages (Footpath F68) or Brook Car Park (BS103).
