Team GB rowers Imogen Grant and Charlotte Hodgkins-Byrne presented Shanklin Sandown Rowing Club’s Ethan Walters and Riley Horrix with their medals and pennant at the awards ceremony for the 2019 Pairs Head in Chiswick last weekend.

The duo, part of the Isle of Wight Talented Athletes Programme, started their winter season in winning style last month, beating the top crew in the country for the J16 Open Doubles title – no mean feat on the challenging 5k tideway course.

Within the same week, the boys also collected – alongside teammates Jamie Gamble and George Glenister – the Hants and Dorset Junior Fours Championship title at the Novotel in Southampton. Unbeaten all season, the crew also went on to win the prestigious South Coast Championship at Dartmouth in September.

Jamie and George completed a clean sweep by also securing the Hants and Dorset Junior Pairs Championships for Shanklin. The club also collected the cup for the Novice ladies sculls championships.

8 crews from Shanklin travel to Henley this weekend for their Small Boats Head, aspiring for further success on the water against high-quality opposition.
