No football will be played this weekend in the Wessex League, Isle of Wight League or in the Women’s FA Cup following the sad passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
The announcement was made shortly before midday on Friday as a mark of respect to her late Majesty.

I had to pass this on. I did this for the Daily Mirror: My favourite story, and a famous one, is when Her Majesty was at the meet and greet at the end of a Royal Variety Performance at the London Palladium. Tommy Cooper asked if she’d mind answering a personal question. “No,” she said, “but I might not be able to give you a full answer.” “Do you like football?” asked Tommy. “Well, not really,” replied the Queen. “In that case,” said Tommy, “do you mind if I have your Cup Final tickets?” Somehow a weekend without football would’ve put a smile on her face.
