Thousands of pounds worth of vaping equipment has been stolen from a shop in Sandown overnight after a young male broke in and helped himself – twice.
At around 02:30 this morning (Sunday), an unknown male broke into ‘Zest’ at 38b High Street and filled 2 rucksacks with e-cigarettes and vaping liquid. He forced entry to the premises via the front door.
Just 90 minutes later, at around 04:00, the same male is said to have returned to the shop and taken another 2 rucksacks full of stock from the shelves.
The suspect, who was wearing a balaclava, is described as being around 5ft 4″ tall and aged around 17-20 years old, possibly younger.
The owners of the shop are hoping that the male can be identified and that the local community are made aware that stolen products may now be on the local market.
Sadly, it is the third time in 5 months that the shop has been broken into.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Police on 101. Information can be given anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
UPDATE – A 17-year-old boy from Sandown has been arrested on suspicion of burglary, aggravated vehicle taking and property damage, and possession of a class B drug.
He remains in custody at this time.

Remember though crime has dropped on the Island?
REPORTED crime is down
Approx 17-20yrs? Then he does this knowing full well that absolutely NOTHING will be done to him even if he does get caught.
What a low life, runining peoples lives. Thanks B.W!
Having been previously broken into surely it would have been sensible to have installed an alarm system and CCTV!!
I do have CCTV,But no alarm system yet,Something I have to do .
About time you upgraded your security.
People should not to pay out lots off money to keep low life out
Glad this lad has been caught. Not sure about the reduction of crime on the Island? One of two things – he either deserves punishment or he’s safer away from those who have targeted him and now make him do their dirty work for them. Just a thought.
