A yacht minus its usual sails had to reach safety with the help of Cowes RNLI lifeboat when its engine broke down in mid-Solent on Saturday afternoon.
The Moody 28 masthead sloop, with 4 people on board, radioed Solent Coastguard for assistance between Beaulieu River and Gurnard while on passage to Bucklers Hard. The lifeboat towed the yacht to Trinity Landing, Cowes.
Having been launched at 15:25, the lifeboat returned to station at 16:45.
