The Boundary Commission has today (Tuesday) revealed revised plans for the proposed changes to constituencies in England, which now sees Wootton included in Isle of Wight East.
If approved, the Isle of Wight will have 2 MPs from 2022; 1 covering Isle of Wight East and 1 covering Isle of Wight West.
The East/West divide will run roughly down the centre of the Island but East Cowes, Newport, Niton and Whitwell will be part of Isle of Wight West.
The changes come as a result of Parliament’s decision to reduce the number of constituencies across the country.
Islanders now have until 11th December to comment on the proposed divide, with the aim of a final plan being submitted to Parliament by September next year.
