Police are appealing for witnesses to a single vehicle road traffic collision near Ryde, in which a 22-year-old man suffered serious head injuries, to come forward.
The nasty crash took place just after 22:00 on Sunday (21st January) as a red Seat Leon travelled northbound along Beaper Shute. The vehicle left the carriageway and collided with a tree, as first reported by Island Echo.
Although it was initially thought by emergency services that the driver was ok, it was established once at hospital that he had infact sustained a serious head injury. The 22-year-old was transferred to Southampton General Hospital where he remains in a stable condition.
Officers are ow investigating the circumstances on the collision.
PC Green of the Joint Operations Unit has said:
“Did you witness this collision? Perhaps you saw a red Seat Leon travelling along this road before the collision? If so, please get in touch.”
