51-year-old Timothy Clark from Ventnor has been given a 9 month prison sentence, suspended for 2 years, following a firearms incident in Ventnor back in February of this year.
As first reported by Island Echo, Armed Police officers surrounded the former Burlington Hotel on Bellevue Road on the evening of 22nd February. It is there that Timothy Clark, also of Bellevue Road, was arrested on suspicion of firearms offences.
Clark was charged with affray, possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence and possession of a shotgun without a certificate. He appeared before the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on 24th February and again in March, where he was further remanded for sentencing.
Appearing in front of the Isle of Wight Crown Court this week, Clark was sentenced to 9 months in prison, suspended for 2 years and made subject to a community order after pleading guilty to affray and possessing a firearm without a licence. He pleaded not guilty to possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence – a charge which was ordered to remain on his file.
The court heard how a ‘very drunk’ Clark discharged his weapon whilst inside the property. Others on site were forced to barricade themselves in a room ahead of the arrival of Police en-masse.
