With the 124th running of Ventnor Carnival well underway this week, thousands lined the streets of the seaside town last night (Saturday) for the annual illuminated carnival procession.
With the same luck as Ryde Carnival, which ran earlier in the evening, the rain held off much to the relief of all – although a few spits here and there didn’t dampen spirits.
A spectacular mixture of colour lite up Ventnor under the cover of darkness with floats twinkling as their lights shone bright.
Her Majesty’s Coastguard team from Ventnor lead the way, followed by the Island’s carnival queens, some of whom had only just finished Ryde Carnival hours before.
The Island’s Wight Diamond marching band and Ventnor’s very own jazz band also joined in the celebrations, for what was a shorter than usual display.
With the streets packed full of locals and tourists alike, Ventnor celebrated in style as a week of fantastic activities comes to end, including the Ventnor Fringe Festival and the Isle of Wight Film Festival, both held in the heart of Ventnor town.
