A major scheme by Island Roads to strengthen a bridge near Godshill is to begin on Monday (27th January) for up to 4 weeks, resulting in changes to Southern Vectis’ Route 2 and 3 buses.
A full road closure is necessary for the works at Bow Bridge – situated between Godshill and Rookley – meaning diversions for all motorists, including Island buses.
Southern Vectis has now confirmed details of changes to its services during this time, which includes a shuttle service between Godshill and Wroxall and diversions for Routes 2 and 3.
Route 3
Route 3 will divert from Rookley via Merstone, through Arreton to Apse Heath Roundabout, right into Ventnor Road, Canteen Road and straight across at Whiteley Bank to continue normal route. The diversion will operate in both directions.
On Friday and Saturday evenings the late ‘nightclubber’ buses will not be able to serve Rookley.
A shuttle bus will be operating between Godshill (Yarborough Close) and Wroxall (Church) whilst the closure is in place. The shuttle will meet Route 3 at Wroxall Church to transfer passengers to their onward connections.
Route 2
Route 2 will divert from Sandown Road, through Arreton, to Apse Heath Roundabout, right into Ventnor Road, Canteen Road and left at Whiteley Bank to continue a normal route.
Route 2 will not be serving Merstone, however, Route 3 will be adjusting its route to serve this area instead.
