Curtain Call Creative has a fantastic year ahead with 2 shows already in rehearsals and more to follow later in the year.
The Performing Arts School based in Ryde welcomes students from 7 to 18 years, providing workshops and tuition from theatre professionals and mentoring for those aiming for a career in the performing arts.
Along the way it also stages seriously great musical theatre accompanied by live professional musicians. Costumes, set design and production are all done to professional standards.
Following on from the success of ‘Fame – The Musical’ and ‘All Together Now’, the older students are deep into rehearsals for ‘Made in Dagenham’. The show will be staged at Medina Theatre on 25th, 26th and 27th March.
Inspired by a true story and based on the hit movie, this is an uplifting British musical comedy about friendship, love and the importance of fighting for what is right. The story follows the women of a Dagenham factory in the late 1960’s as they fight for equal rights; battling against their union and business giant, Ford.

Following this, the junior students will be bringing ‘Alice in Wonderland’ to Medina Theatre on 1st May at 18:00 and 2nd May at 14:00. This new musical version of the timeless classic tale takes you down the rabbit hole with zany characters, mad tea parties, flamingo croquet, and dancing playing cards, all in a land where nothing is as it seems – perfect for high schools, regional theatres, and any theatre featuring family entertainment.
Light-hearted, funny, captivating – full of great songs and a story that reminds you that it only takes a bit of imagination to find your way to Wonderland.
The ever-curious Alice, the White Rabbit, Tweedle-Dee and Tweedle-Dum, the Mad Hatter, the Caterpillar, the Mock Turtle, the mysterious Cheshire Cat, the outrageous Queen of Hearts, and all your favourites from Lewis Carroll’s beloved books make this a magical, tuneful, and over-the-top entertaining musical for the whole family!

Andrew Woodford of Curtain Call Creative says:
“We are so excited to be paying tribute to Stephen Sondheim with this fairytale musical featuring stunning melodies, characters we all know, and a look at what happens after their happy ending.”
Auditions will be taking place for students aged 13+ in April with audition material coming out at the end of March. Tickets will be on sale soon but for now… save the date, and get booking for ‘Made in Dagenham’ and ‘Alice in Wonderland’.
All the best for ‘Made in Dagenham’. I performed this show in 2019 before the pandemic and loved it.
I’d be interested to know if your director has removed some of the words from the scripts because some people may be offended? The language used in the ’60s/’70s is often frowned upon nowadays.
