fightforfinleyThousands of people turned out yesterday (Sunday) to fight for Finley by giving a sample swab to see if they could be a potential life-saving bone marrow match.

Brave little 6-year-old Finley Morris of Binstead has been fighting against Leukaemia for over 6 months, but now the time has come that he needs a vital bone marrow transplant to save his life.

In the search for a suitable match, a drop-in session was hosted at the Riverside Centre in Newport for Islanders to give two samples from their mouth and join the Bone Marrow Register by filling out a form which could, one day, save the life of Finley or another person suffering in a similar way.

With a variety of prizes having been donated by businesses and individuals from across the region, a raffle was held to raise a target of £7000 in the Fight for Finley – registering one potential stem cell donor costs £40.00.

The session was held in association with the Delete Blood Cancer charity.
