This April you are invited to the delightfully hilarious and macabre world of The Addams Family, staged by Theatretrain and TEd (Theatre Educational).
Cast from auditions open to everyone across the Island, a number of the younger performers are new to the Island group which brought us the successes of Matilda and Peter Pan last year.
TheatreTrain’s Julie Caudle says:
“As a collaboration, we would love and hope to bring together one show a year for younger performers like we did for ‘Matilda’ and one show a year for more mature cast as we have with ‘Addams’.”
They have certainly assembled a cast of talented actors, singers and dancers ready to introduce us to this new take on the famous family who love the strange and unnatural, in a stage musical which premiered on Broadway to great acclaim.
A comical feast that embraces the wackiness in every family, The Addams Family features an original story and it’s every father’s nightmare: Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family– a man her parents have never met. And if that wasn’t upsetting enough, Wednesday confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother. Now, Gomez Addams must do something he’s never done before– keep a secret from his beloved wife, Morticia. Everything will change for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner for Wednesday’s “normal” boyfriend and his parents.
What can Gomez and Morticia do? Will Wednesday marry and join the ‘normal’ world, or can she draw her beloved Lucas into hers? Fester releases the Family ancestors from their crypt – but will they help or hinder? Will love win out? Will Wednesday really never torture Pugsley again? And can Grandma, Lurch really and the family manage to appear normal for one dinner date?
With a lively and varied music score, plenty of great singing and dancing and most of all lots and lots of laughs along the way, this is a show not to be missed.
