An 18-year-old boy who was arrested on suspicion of arson following a large blaze in Shanklin last month is to face no further action, it has been confirmed.
The teen has been at the centre of an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the suspicious fire, but Hampshire Constabulary have today (Monday) confirmed that no further action is to be taken against the boy.
As first reported by Island Echo, some 40 firefighters, 7 pumping appliances and 2 aerial ladder platforms tackled the fire at the junction of High Street and Victoria Avenue throughout the early hours of Saturday 18th February.
Investigations are continuing and a 39-year-old man remains on Police bail on suspicion of arson. He is to return to Newport Police Station on 13th April.
