In the main event, the crew of Andrew Tapsell, Sam Evans-Murray, Riley Horrix, Ethan Walters and Daisy Faithfull (cox) sprung a surprise by winning the Men’s Novice Fours event. The crew found themselves in contention with host club Deal, and has they reached the final 250m saw their lead being ebbed away, however, a shipwreck in the Deal crew saw Shanklin take the victory.

The club’s novice Ladies crew of Yasmin Wright, Lottie Tapsell, Mia Phelan, Sophie Atkin and cox Emily Faithfull had a storming row in their race, leading from the start and completely demolishing all before them to win by 10 lengths – the largest winning margin of the day.
