SUCCESSFUL DAY FOR NEWPORT ROWING CLUB AT BTC HEAD OF THE RIVER

It was a successful days rowing for Newport Rowing Club on Saturday when they picked up 2 wins at the BTC Head of the River in Southampton.

The first win came when the Newport Men’s Junior Four of Toby Batchelor, Ollie Coulson, Matt Chalmers, Jonjo Findlay and Mary Lillington (cox) beat Itchen RC in the Junior Coxed River 4’s event. The crew picked up a second win later in the day coming joint first with Christchurch RC in the Junior Coastal 4’s event with the same crew, but with Lisa Redwood as their cox.

Newport’s Novice Ladies crew came in a very well deserved 4th place in their first race together, beating 2 other very strong crews. The Ladies Novice crew was made up of Beth Walpole-Davis, Suzanne Whitehouse, Racheal Debenham, Chloe Huggies and Emily Oatley (cox).
