Representatives from Southern Vectis paid a visit to Terry and Sue Ramplin at Long Lane in Newport recently – to celebrate the start of the traditional Christmas lights tour.
Journeying between the Island’s best Christmas Lights displays – the majority of which are featured on the Light up the Wight map – the tour lasts around 3 hours with some festive stops along the way. Passengers enjoy a stop off at Rectory Mansion in Brading to enjoy mince pies and hot drinks.
The tour runs nightly until 23rd December, starting at 18:30 from either Ryde or Newport Bus Stations.
Richard Tyldsley, Southern Vectis General Manager, says:
“We deck out our bus with tinsel and lights, and play Christmas tunes – all with Santa behind the wheel.
“To celebrate the start of the tour, we paid a special visit to the legendary home of Terry and Sue Ramplin in Long Lane, Newport. This is the 20th year Terry and Sue have been adorning their house with an array of festive lights and decorations – and this year their chosen charities who will benefit are The Wight Brainy Bunch and John’s Club.
“We have been supporting them each year with a £250 donation towards new lights or bulbs. And this year is no different. As ever, Long Lane has been transformed into a magical festive scene – and our Christmas Lights Tour just wouldn’t be the same without it.
“Our Christmas Lights Tour is the perfect festive night out for families, friends, couples, adults and children alike – a truly unique way to enjoy the Island at Christmas”.
