The Solent Inn, Ryde is working in conjunction with locals to support St Vincent’s Care Home SSAFA, which has fallen on hard times and is at threat of closing.
The pub, located on East Street/Monkton Street, is running a whole week of events to raise money and awareness of the struggles that St Vincent’s is encountering.
Starting tomorrow (Monday 7th May) will be a Knockout Darts tournament at 19:30, £1 entry with all proceeds going to St Vincent’s. Food available.
There will also be a sponsored 24 hour silence being done by none other than Jim Elston, one of the people behind this inspired week of charity events.
Tuesday is a comedy night with Jim again who will no doubt have plenty to say after his sponsored silence. The talented Rob Stout will also be performing. Starting at 20:00 were charity buckets will will be making there way round.
Wednesday night is a music quiz with £1 entry, once again all money going to St Vincent’s. The winning team gets a £20 bar tab and second place will receive a bottle of Prosecco.
On Thursday, the amazing Bloodstone Morris Dancers will be performing at 19:30 followed by a special open mic night hosted by Jim and Rob.
Friday night will be live music, act to be announced, from 21:00-23:00.
The fundraising efforts continue into next week also as Saturday is a music packed day with DJ’s from 14:00 and ‘Stage Fright’ from 20:00. This will be followed by The Monkton Street Preachers playing till late, with both bands kindly donating their fee to St Vincent’s. There will also be a BBQ from 16:00 until 18:00.
To round things off on Sunday 14th May there will be more live music (act to be announced) from 16:00 followed by the grand raffle draw at 18:00.
