Dog lovers can get friends and family to sponsor their pooch, or can even walk the dog of an elderly relative or friend who might not be able to make it when the inaugural ‘WOOF’ festival takes places this weekend.
The walk, organised by the Vectis Sunrise Rotary Club, takes place on this Sunday (29th December) at Newport Quay in Newport, featuring two walks – one
‘green’ easy walk and one ‘red’ walk, for those who wish to go a little further.
The aim is to bring together dog lovers and those who want to get fit for 2014, as well as promoting the message that a dog is for life, not just for Christmas.
Free parking is available at Newport Quay, whilst the rotary club will keep walkers fed with a selection of hot dogs and bacon rolls, as well as hot and cold drinks. There will also be treats provided for dogs and plenty of checkpoints with water around the site to keep dogs happy and hydrated.
Dog lovers who wish to take part in the walk can email [email protected] for more information, or download a sponsorship form from this years nominated charity at www.rotb.co.uk/woof
