Guests were treated to an extra special screening as Sheridan Smith, who plays Nina in the film, attended the gala première and took part in a Q&A session following the film, hosted by John Hannam. Following on from his previous television successes including ITV drama Doc Martin and the BBC Robin Hood series, Dominic and his partner Sarah Beardsall have come together to produce their first film as a couple under Island Pictures, named in respect of the Isle of Wight.

Prior to the film’s first screening, guests mingled at a wine reception held in the theatre’s bar, all in aid of the Isle of Wight Branch of the Motor Neurone Disease Association. The association remains close to the family, with Dominic’s mother, Gloria, being the president.

The film, based on the classic book by Daphne Du Maurier, was well received by the audience and is set to be aired in September 2012. More details nearer the time.
