Students from Sandown Bay Academy have organised a fundraising day next week to help raise money for Dreamflight and Children with Cancer UK, two charities close to the student’s hearts.
Sandown pupil Jade Thomas, 15, suffered from a brain tumour and following her treatment back in 2011, Dreamflight paid for her to go to Disneyland in Florida. She is passionate about raising money so other children can benefit from this charity.
Members of staff have benefited from the support provided by ‘Children with Cancer UK,’ and feel it was invaluable.
Students from all year groups will bring in £1 and will be allowed to wear an item of Christmas clothing for the day on Thursday 19th December, adding to the festive spirit. There will be activities, a raffle and cake sales throughout the day. Students have also been asked to bring in food to support the local Isle of Wight Foodbank.
Mr Lyon, head of Yellow house, will be having his head shaved during an assembly between 08:40 and 09:30.
If members of the community would like to donate to Dreamflight, they can do by visiting Jade’s Just giving page www.justgiving.com/craniopharyngioma11.
