36-year-old Kelly Dinsdale from Ryde has been banned from driving for 18 months following a collision with an elderly male in Sandown at the start of the year.
Specialist collision investigation officers from the mainland were called to The Broadway, Sandown on 3rd January after a Hyundai Getz collided with a 81-year-old man close to the junction with Leed Street.
The small hatchback sustained a heavily smashed windscreen as a result of the impact, which closed the roads for over 7 hours.
The Isle of Wight Magistrates Court has this week heard how Dinsdale, of Slade Road, failed to see the pedestrian in the road and subsequently knocked him over causing life changing injuries. The victim was airlifted to the Intensive Care Unit at Southampton General Hospital.
For driving without due care and attention, Kelly Dinsdale has been banned from driving for 18 months and ordered to pay £235.
