It has been confirmed that Ryde Slide will return to Union Street on 16th July, with many changes planned to make this year’s fun-filled day the best yet.
For 2017 there will be no question mark as to whether or not you will get to slip and slide down one of the town’s main streets. The lottery has been scrapped and replaced with a simple £10 ticket, guaranteeing you a slide in front of the hundreds of spectators that are expected to gather.
It is hoped that the slide itself will be moved further down Union Street towards the Esplanade, meaning faster speeds and more room for local stalls, street food and even a bar.
Entertainment for the day is yet to be confirmed but with more space and bigger plans than ever before it is certainly looking set to be the best Ryde Slide to date.
Wightlink have joined forces with event organisers as title sponsors, helping to raise as much money as possible for the selected charities: Ryde Inshore Rescue, Aspire Ryde, Waterside Pool, Ryde Fire Station’s selected charity and the community group fighting for Ryde Arena.
The event, which is to take place the day after the much-anticipated IW Pride, will be open to the public from 10:00-19:00.
Island Echo is lending support to Ryde Slide for the third year running. More information will be available right here on the website as soon as it becomes available.
