The carnival season drew to a close on Saturday night as a summer of fun climaxed with the annual Ryde Illuminated Carnival making it’s way through the streets of Ryde.
Thousands of spectators filled the pavements as the great weather continued well into the night, making it a pleasant evening for all.
The spectacular procession saw dazzling displays, shining lights and a mix of music from around the world all under the starry night sky with carnival queens from across the Island coming together for one last time during 2013.
One talking point of this year’s parade was the theatrical performance from Park of the Dead organisers, who brought their live action horror experience from Puckpool Park onto the streets of Ryde with zombies and the Park Security Force, promoting the event which takes place next month.
The Island’s carnival scene has seen a recent drop in the amount of float entries, with a bigger emphasis now appearing on dancers and bands of which there was plenty, with the Island’s traditional marching bands performing and a Scottish highland band leading the carnival, adding a twist to the normal proceedings.
