Southern Water have confirmed that works being undertaken at Northwood near Cowes should be completed on Thursday 13th April, in time for the Easter weekend.
The latest installment of roadworks has been causing travel delays for motorists heading in and out of Cowes, but the end is now in sight with work due to be completed next week.
A spokesperson has told Island Echo today (Wednesday):
“We are continuing our work to renew the trunk water main in Cowes to reduce bursts and improve water supply.
“The project included laying a new pipe in Newport Road, Cowes. We had to return to Newport Road on March 13, because the new pipe did not pass our stringent pressure tests.
“We’ve found what was causing these issues and are putting things right. We expect to complete this work on April 13, in time for Easter weekend.
“This is slightly later than we would have liked and we’re sorry about this.
“We’d like to thank customers for their continued patience.”
