Islanders are being urged to get on their bikes and raise money for charity by cycling from Cowes to Newport, with a chance of winning 2x Bestival tickets as an added bonus.
A new app called Bicycle Island is helping encourage cycle usage along the Cowes to Newport cycle path by raising money for local charities from every mile ridden along it. This month the charity is the ACE7 Alzheimer Cafe in Newport and all people have to do to support it is install the Bicycle Island app and get riding.
Every mile ridden along the route increases the size of the donation to the charity from app sponsor Red Funnel. There is a target of 3,000km by the end of the month and if this is met the donation will be doubled. The ACE7 Alzheimer Cafe supports people with Early-Onset Dementia and their carers.
There will be a Bicycle Island stand at Riverfest on Newport Quay tomorrow (Saturday 13th May) and they will be running a mini challenge, with a target of 500km ridden along the cycle path during the day.
