There was disappointment all round for the Wightlink-sponsored Ryde Rowing Club who were scheduled to race at Bournemouth Regatta on Saturday, after the Regatta was cancelled the day before due to the adverse weather forecast.
The event’s cancellation was particularly disappointing for the club’s newly promoted Men’s Coastal Junior Four who were looking to compete at this level for the first time following their win at Newport Regatta. It was also disappointing for the 2 Junior Coastal Ladies crews who have been promoted to this status this season – one of whom also won at Newport – and also for the Men’s Senior Four who were looking forward to renewing their challenge for the top status following their win at Newport also.
They will now all have to wait for this coming Saturdays Regatta (16th July) at Southsea – the largest one day rowing regatta in the country – where the 2 South Coast Rowing Association Clubs compete together for the only time before the South Coast Rowing Championships taking place in Herne Bay on Saturday 3rd September.
