Hampshire Constabulary have launched an investigation into the collapse of VIP Cottages, a popular holiday lettings company on the Isle of Wight, following a string of complaints.
Over 10 Island cottage owners are currently assisting Police with their enquiries into allegations of financial irregularities in respect of VIP Solutions Ltd. and VIP Cottages Ltd..
It comes after the lettings firm suddenly closed during the height of the Summer season without any notice.
The national fraud office, Action Fraud, have referred the case to Police after the situation was flagged by holiday makers and holiday home owners alike.
It was only last year that VIP Cottages became the first Island-based holiday letting agency to be awarded the internationally recognised marque of Quality in Tourism – Quality Accredited Agency.
Island Echo spoke to owner Debs Murphy-Latham about the closure back in August. She replied:
“I am in the process of selling the business which has set the rumour mill in full swing”.
Investigations are ongoing.
