Police on the Isle of Wight are investigating a recent spate of outboard engine thefts from boat yards and moorings across the Island.
Officers are currently working to identify those responsible for the thefts of at least 8 outboards.
Earlier this month a car was stolen from a property in Newport and later found abandoned in Sandown. A fuel tank from an outboard was found inside the vehicle, prompting concerns from the owner that it had been used for other crime during the night. Unfortunately, it is said Police have yet to investigate this any further.
The following outboards have been reported as stolen:
- – YAMAHA 4-stroke, 4HP
- – TOHATSU 8HP
- – MARINER ELETEFI 40HP
- – SUZUKI 6HP
- – PARSONS 4 STROKE 2.5HP
- – TOHATSU 6HP
- – MARINER 4HP
- – TOHATSU 5HP 4-stroke
Any sightings of suspicious vehicles or suspicious persons around boat yards etc. should be reported to Police on 101. In an emergency dial 999.
