From the start and throughout, right up to the bell lap, there were numerous amounts of breakaway attempts of which none were successful. The Wightlink Wight Mountain riders worked hard to make sure of that.
As the pace increased during the final few laps the riders positioned themselves ready for the final sprint. Pett found himself in a tight spot but managing to find a gap and sprinting to the finish line for the win.
Staunton came in a very respectable 3rd and Ward 10th – this was a great result for the team.
