Over 8,000 people have already signed up for this year’s Walk the Wight event due to be held on Sunday 12th May.
The event, held in aid of the Earl Mountbatten Hospice, takes in the Island’s most beautiful hills and countryside while raising hundreds of thousands for the much-loved hospice based in Newport.
Organisers are reminding people that registration for the event closes on 3rd May. Registration is free, but compulsory.
The charity walk accommodates all with a number of different walks taking place on the day.
• The Full Walk: Bembridge to the Needles (approx 26.5 miles) / 8 to 12 hours.
• The 1st Half only: Bembridge to Carisbrooke (approx 12.5 miles) / 4 to 6 hours.
• The 2nd Half only: Carisbrooke to the Needles (approx 14 miles) / 5 to 8 hours.
• The Flat Walk: Sandown to Shide cycle track (approx 8 miles)
You can donate to the cause even if you can’t make Walk the Wight for 2013. Simply text WTW to 70007 to donate £3 to Earl Mountbatten Hospice. Texts cost £3 plus one standard rate message. From most donors EMH will receive the full £3 with a minimum of £2.97 depending on your network provider.
