Office Outlet on the Isle of Wight will be closing its doors for good this week, administrators for the troubled company have today (Tuesday) confirmed.
The retailer entered administration last month putting the future of the chain’s stores at risk.
It has been announced by administrators Deloitte that 16 stores are to be shut across the country this month, including the Newport store at Coppins Bridge. The final day of trading will be 7th April 2019.
The local store has been in a period of ‘closing down’ for several months as it is understood plans were in place to downsize the Isle of Wight presence. The total loss of the store may mean bigger plans are now possible for the leisure complex in the heart of Newport.
Office Outlet was previously known as Staples, which opened at the Cineworld complex on Furlongs/Coppins Bridge back in June 2000. Office Outlet is completely separate and independent from the online retailer Staples.
A total of 161 jobs are being lost in the nationwide closures, 9 of which are on the Isle of Wight.

Hope people who buy online are pleased that they have lost 9 people their jobs and contributed to global warming through putting extra lorries on the roads to transport their purchases.
No need to cause global warming ??….just use one of the three local island companies for the stuff you need rather than a large foreign corporation. They had no intention of employing people in there long term.
Burger King please
I be sad if Burger King don’t come you could put a little bowling alley in napkin like the shadow one and Burger King in office outlet
You could put a small bowling alley like the Sandown one in maplin and Burger King in office outlet
