79-year-old John Rust has appeared in court accused of raping a young girl under the age of 13.
The pensioner, of George Street in Ryde, appeared before Magistrates in Newport this morning (Friday) charged with 2 offences.
Mr Rust is alleged to have raped a girl aged under 13 between September 2015 and September 2016, as well as sexually touching a girl aged under 13 between January 2015 and June 2017.
The offences are alleged to have occurred on the Isle of Wight.
John Rust did not enter a plea during this morning’s court appearance. He has now been bailed to reappear before the Crown Court on 24th February 2020.
