2 men arrested in Binstead just under 2 weeks ago have been released with no further action – but property seized at the time of arrest has now been returned to its rightful owner.
As previously reported by Island Echo, a 36-year-old man and a 30-year-old man, both from London, were arrested on suspicion of theft following numerous reports of suspicious activity on the Isle of Wight at the start of the month.
Police caught up with 2 vans at the Wightlink ferry terminal in Fishbourne on 5th July and seized 1 vehicle, but the other was let go. The red Mercedes Sprinter was then later stopped in Binstead. The 2 men were arrested at the roadside.
Hampshire Constabulary have confirmed that the 2 men have been released with no further action to be taken against them. The property seized by Police has been returned to its rightful owner.

So let me get this straight. They were caught with stolen goods which have been returned to their owners .but no action is being taken against the lazy scum bags who knicked it .No wonder crime is rife .They know nothing will happen when they get caught .unbelievable !
Rather puzzling, Goods have been returned to the rightful owner ! so why did these guys have the goods that weren’t theirs ? There must be a good reason why they haven’t been charged with theft, or is that secret
not really – they will most probably have grassed up those responsible, as they were probably just driving the vans. Provided the police with names and address of people of interest in exchange for their freedom and no further action.
Think I might start nicking for s living! Great profit and if you get caught you get a cup of tea at local station!!!!
Absolutely ridiculous!!
They should be locked up.
SCUM
The guys did not realise the goods were stolen Surprise !!!
Who knows the circumstances? Maybe he owed them money and they decided to seize goods in lieu, police get involved, debt gets paid, goods returned? Probably some illegal aspects to that scenario, but possibly not worth pursuing, as everyone goes away satisfied and nobody lost anything or got hurt.
Well mUst be a team, the last van reported was a yellow van. Oh that was photoed getting in the car ferry ALONE.
Well just about sums the island powers to be up
