Islanders are being invited to once again brave the cold by taking part in a New Year’s swim in aid of Ryde Inshore Rescue.
The free event is being held on Appley beach on 1st January 2020 (Wednesday) and will see swimmers plunge into the Solent to raise vital funds for the independent lifeboat station.
Activities get underway at 14:00 with a safety briefing for all swimmers. A short display will then take place off Appley Beach with the lifeboat – that will also provide safety cover – at 14:15 before the launch tractor sounds its horn for the start of the swim at 14:30.
There is public parking all along the seafront and a large public car park at Appley Park.
