It is a birthday like no other for one Island girl this weekend as she receives a mini replica Chitty Chitty Bang Bang car built by her granddad.
Back in 2007, Nick and Carolyn Pointing (pictured) traveled across the world to Australia in a full size replica of one of the most famous TV cars of all time. Now, some 6 years later, Nick has created an 11ft mini version for his loving granddaughter, Indiya.
The homemade car, which took two years to build, has been created using left over parts from the original project as well as a ride-on lawnmower which Nick had spare in his garden.
The car was officially launched today (Sunday) at Thompson’s Garden Center, Newchurch in aid of the Earl Mountbatten Hospice.
Sunny weather brought a great turn out of visitors, who took part in a charity raffle.
