Some 3,000 mince pies are being delivered across the Isle of Wight today as part of Bright Bulb Design’s Mince Pie Marathon – raising funds for Isle of Wight charity The Wight Brainy Bunch.
Over the past few weeks, businesses of all shapes and sizes have been buying up mince pies for £1 each. As a result, a staggering £3,000 has been raised by the unique charity initiative, the brainchild of Brightbulb’s Matt Jeffrey. PC Consultants topped the leaderboard with a staggering 250 mince pies purchased.
2 London Taxis have been especially branded up and will be whizzing around the Island today visiting all of the businesses who have supported the marathon event – 91 stops in total. An electric Hyundai car has also been loaned by Leslies Motors providing another much-needed vehicle to get all the mince pies delivered by the end of the day. Keep an eye out for the team as they travel around!
The event is being live streamed thanks to Dave Russell from Wight Media Services. Dave is with the team throughout the day, capturing the special Christmas delivery in action!
The Wight Brainy Bunch was set up by Mark Grimes and his wife Kathryn following Mark’s diagnosis of a brain tumour in February 2015. Realising that very little funding is received for research into brain tumours they embarked on a series of fundraising events to benefit the Brain Tumour Charity.
