Local Police assisted a Shepherd in herding over 400 lambs across one of the busiest roads on the Isle of Wight this afternoon (Monday).
Motorists were greeted with a different kind of roadblock on Forest Road, between Newport and Yarmouth, as a Shepherd moved his flock along Whitehouse Road and across the main A-road into Betty Haunt Lane.
There were no illegal ‘ewe-turns’ though – the whole process went incredibly smoothly. The Shepherd single-handly moved the lambs with the use of 4 trusty dogs, as well as the odd helper here and there keeping everything safe.
Police officers from the Yarmouth-based Rural Policing Team assisted with the operation.

B a a humbug!
Nice to see we’re still a rural community (despite developers attempts at saturation)
Next time the cat won’t come in I’ll call the police for help
Calling all British, are one of these ewe?
