The Isle of Wight Education Federation has taken the decision to close both Medina College and Carisbrooke College to Year 10 students from tomorrow (Thursday).
As from tomorrow, Thursday 19th March, parents are being asked to keep children at home if they are Year 10 students. They should not go to school on Friday 20th March either.
Staff who would have been teaching students will set work for them to do at home using Show My Homework, Google classroom or Teams. Some staff may have already provided hardcopy booklets for the students.
If students are at home it is important that they do continue to complete work which is set, stresses Matthew Parr-Burman, Executive Headteacher.
If any students are eligible for Free School Meals and they have been asked to be at home by the school (that is, they don’t have symptoms of illness, or are in a house where there are people selfisolating) then they may contact the school and a packed lunch will be made for them so they can come in at lunchtime to eat this. The school need to know by 09:00 at the latest if this is
needed.
Yesterday it was announced that The Bay CE Secondary School was entering a partial closure period for some students.
Boris Johnson is expected to announce school closures later on today (Wednesday) so this information may be superseded.
