The Medical Eye Centre in Newport is to close its doors at the end of the month, with patients set to be moved to Ryde.
Located at Grays Walk off Scarrots Lane, The Medical Eye Centre has been a long-established favourite with Islanders.
In August last year, the sister shop in Ryde was closed following a merger with Ryde Opticians. Now, it has been announced that the Newport shop will also close with patient records transferred to Ryde Opticians on 40 Union Street, Ryde.
Farzeen Khan, Director of The Medical Eye Centre, says:
“I would like to thank all our patients for their support. If you have any queries then please contact Ryde store on 01983 562591 or www.rydeopticians.co.uk“.
The doors wil close from 1st February 2020.

No one saw that coming
I was a patient of the Medical Eye Centre foe over 20 years, first the Ryde shop in Cross Street closes, then the Newport shop closes, when can we expect the Union Street shop to close ??
The shop at the top of Union Street in Ryde is wonderful. The staff are so lovely in there, as is the optician.
I used to go to Tesco, but always wondered if the staff had been poached from the wet fish counter on ‘quiet days’. They all look so similar when your eyesight is not all that. I am just joshing, but the Union Street Opticians near ‘Spoons’ really is good.
