McDonald’s will re-open its Newport restaurant on the Isle of Wight from next Wednesday (8th July) and they WILL be serving breakfast, Island Echo has been told.
The fast food giant has been re-opening stores across the country over the past couple of weeks with drive-thrus, such as Ryde, taking priority.
Now, walk-in restaurants are starting to welcome customers once again. The doors at St James’ Street will open for the first time since March at 07:00 on 8th July with food available daily until 22:00. However, customers will not be able to sit in with all orders for takeaway only.
Although a full menu will not be on offer, Wednesday will see the return of Shakes, Mayo Chicken, Bacon Mayo Chicken, Hot Chocolate and the Bacon Double Cheeseburger. Breakfast items will also be on offer but there will be no bagels, wraps or porridge – for now.
To help employees to work safely, McDonald’s will operate with fewer employees on each shift and implement new social distancing procedures. Customers are warned that with fewer people in the kitchens, there may be longer wait times.
Customers will be encouraged to use contactless payment and mobile ordering wherever possible and there will be a maximum spend of £25.
Oh so more rubbish will be spread around, if it is only take away, and will not be recycled.
I don’t think it’s correct to not accept cash, it’s legal tender still I believe, been arguing this with B & Q for ages. Most other shops accept cash. Maybe the queens head on a note is not valid proof of legal tender anymore.
I am sure I won’t be wasting even £1 in MacDonalds, horrible place in MY opinion, and people who use it love to just chuck the rubbish anywhere they like except a bin.
They say they will be open with less staff, and there could be long waits…. so where are the waiting people expected to wait?

Yes I agree with everyone, more bloody brown bags and rubbish everywhere except in the bins. People who use McDs don’t give a fig about the island or the environment they live in. Why are kids not being taught by their parents to be responsible? Do they teach such life lessons in schools? We don’t want to see rubbish, any rubbish spoiling our beautiful island.
