A 3-week trial against businessman Aaron Brown, who denies killing his friend Ryan McKinlay in a boating accident off East Cowes in 2015, is to get underway at Winchester Crown Court later this morning (Monday).
33-year-old Aaron Brown, the Chief Operating Officer of Southampton-based telecoms company OneCom, was charged with manslaughter following a Police investigation into the death of 36-year-old Ryan McKinlay on the afternoon of 19th June 2015.
Brown appeared before Winchester Crown Court on 20th June last year where he denied manslaughter. He was bailed for the trial, which was originally meant to take place in October.
As previously reported by Island Echo, Mr McKinlay was quickly airlifted by helicopter to St Mary’s Hospital in Newport having been knocked unconscious, however he later died as a result of his injuries.
It is known that the married father from Gosport was travelling on a water-propelled RIB tender when it collided with the luxury motor cruiser ‘True Blue’. Both the tender and luxury boat were taken to Cowes by Police.
Judge Keith Cutler CBE will oversee the trial, which begins at 10:30.
