A businessman from Southampton has pleaded not guilty to a charge of manslaughter following the death of his friend in Osborne Bay near East Cowes in June of last year.
33-year-old Aaron Brown from Botley, the Chief Operating Officer of OneCom, appeared at Winchester Crown Court yesterday (Monday) charged with the manslaughter of 36-year-old Ryan McKinlay, a charge Mr Brown denies.
As reported by Island Echo, Cowes RNLI lifeboat and Coastguard Rescue 104 helicopter were tasked at around 17:00 on 19th June 2015 to an incident unfolding off Osborne Bay near East Cowes. Mr McKinlay was airlifted by Coastguard helicopter to St Mary’s Hospital in Newport after being knocked unconscious, however he later died as a result of his injuries.
The married father from Gosport was travelling on a water-propelled RIB tender when it collided with the luxury motor cruiser ‘True Blue’.
Following the incident an investigation was launched by Hampshire Constabulary, which resulted in Mr Brown being charged with manslaughter.
The case has been adjourned for trial at Winchester Crown Court on 10th October 2016.
