KFC’s brand new drive-thru restaurant in Lake will now open in the New Year, it has been confirmed.
Work on the new 250sqm restaurant at Merrie Farm Park off Newport Road has been underway for several months now and is nearing completion.
Initially it was said that the takeaway would open at the end of November but things have been pushed back to January 2019.
It was over almost 3 years ago that Island Echo exclusively revealed that plans were afoot to open a second KFC store on the Island. The news was eventually confirmed in February 2017 before a planning application was submitted in June of that year by franchisee Amsric Foods Ltd.
A KFC spokesperson has this week said:
“We’re really pleased to confirm that our new restaurant in Lake is due to open in the new year, and will create over 50 full-time and part-time jobs in the local area.

KFC currently operate just 1 store on the Island at Furlongs, Newport. A second store in Union Street, Ryde closed back in December 2012.
