The Isle of Wight is in high demand after the holiday hotspot was featured on Shane Richie’s new Channel 5 TV Show.
TV star Shane stayed at Away Resorts’ Whitecliff Bay park to film his new show – Caravanning with Shane Richie – which aired last Friday 8th November.
The show saw Shane having such a great time on his staycation that it left the 920,000 viewers who tuned in eager to escape to the Island themselves.
Viewers flocked to the Away Resorts website in their thousands with the holiday specialists reporting a 170% increase of users on site and a 232% revenue increase for the suitably named accommodation type that Shane stayed in, the ‘Rockstar’.
Away Resorts’ Head of Sales and Marketing, Laura Miller, commented:
“We know that you can’t beat a staycation and, for us, it doesn’t get much better than the Isle of Wight! We were thrilled to have Shane stay with us and showcase our park and have been absolutely blown away by the number of enquiries that we’ve seen since as a result.
“The Isle of Wight is a beautiful place and certainly makes for a fabulous family holiday. We’ve got accommodation types to suit all families and budgets so here’s hoping that more holidaymakers will get to experience its beauty in 2020.”
With more and more Brits moving away from the traditional 2-week holiday, and instead adopting a ‘1 week and 3 short breaks’ approach to trips, it’s perhaps no surprise that the staycation remains a strong holiday option.
This year, 69% of Brits have already opted for a Staycation with the number only projected to rise in 2020.
Great place to stay, lovely beach, slobs and fat people or disabled may struggle up the hill, but most can manage it. Better if they banned dogs though

Looks good untill they see the ferry prices,they can go abroad cheaper than come here,then it’s the fluctuating service we get,boats cancelled due to,sickness,(again)failed link span (again)
Moved off the island recently due to the extortionate ferry prices (all of them). Such a shame all persons living on the beautiful island are held to ransom by the ferry companies
What the ‘dim’ chose to ignore is the FACT that the high ferry costs keep away many low life, third world types, who, would otherwise add to our unemployed, single parents, drug users and dealers, littering up and doing their business in shop door ways, and causing all sorts of vile crimes to women.
The overcrowding of cars here is awful now, wait until over a thousand new homes in Ryde alone, then THINK how bad it would be if a fixed link
